The peony is an ornamental cousin of the rose. Peony flowers, large or small, single or double, often delicately scented, rival each other in beauty.
Peonies thrive in rich, cool, well-drained soil. It thrives in light shade during the hottest hours of the day.
In spring, the peony is THE queen of the garden! Its flowering period is short (May to July), but its enormous double or semi-double flowers are full of charm and romantic appeal.
Once its roots have developed, the peony will bloom more abundantly every year. Peony plants can flower for over 30 years!
It's also a low-maintenance plant, and you'll appreciate its hardiness.
When the weather's fine, pick peony flowers as soon as they've opened and place them in a vase. Their delicate fragrance will perfume your home.
The tree peony is an evergreen shrub, growing from 80 cm to 1.30 m tall.
The herbaceous peony is a perennial, forming a clump whose deciduous foliage disappears completely in winter. The herbaceous peony is also known as the Chinese peony.
At André Eve, we offer you a selection of Japanese peonies created by YUUSHIEN, one of the best Japanese producers.
Peonies come in 4 main colors:
From these colors, other variations exist, such as the violet peony, or bicolors, like the herbaceous Kagerou peony, with a white heart and pale pink outer petals, or the herbaceous Hyoten peony, white splashed with red.
Among our peonies for sale, you can opt for a potted peony (container), to be planted all year round, or a bare-root peony, to be planted from November to March.
Peonies thrive in deep, well-drained soil, as they dislike stagnant water.
For exposure, choose a sunny spot, but sheltered from draughts. Ideally plant it near a terrace or driveway, so you can enjoy its fragrance.
Combine the peony in a bed with summer-flowering plants, which will take over when the peony finishes flowering.
Peonies require little maintenance. In spring, add compost or manure. Remove spent flowers as they bloom. In midsummer, remember to water regularly.
