This is the origin of all Portland's remontant-flowering varieties. Probably a spontaneous hybrid between R. gallica and R. chinensis semperflorens, discovered in Italy around 1800, it forms a fairly compact bush with light foliage and semi-double, cherry-red flowers surrounding clusters of golden stamens.
