Aquilegia vulgaris Black Barlow
Columbine is a perennial that's easy to grow in good garden soil. Aquilegia vulgaris is the columbine of our grandmothers, robust and very floriferous in May-June. Nora Barlow is vigorous and can reach 80 cm. Its generous foliage and spurless pompon flowers are red tinged with creamy white or greenish. Pulling back the flowering stems after flowering reinforces vegetation. Columbines can be reseeded spontaneously in sun or part-shade.
