It probably existed in Roman times! One of the first roses cultivated for cut flowers in the early 18th century. This spontaneous, remontant mutation of the Damask rose has given rise to numerous remontant varieties. The double flowers have disordered petals of a pretty silvery-pink. Still grown in Grasse for perfumers.
