Very fragrant, very remontant cabbage flower
Also known as Rosier Cent-Feuilles (Rosa Centifolia), the Rose de Mai is grown in Grasse and is one of the few roses used in perfumery.
How to choose between container and bare roots?
The Rose de Mai is a hundred-leaf rose (R. centifolia) (made by Nabonnand) that is still used today in Grasse, where it is grown with jasmine to produce perfumes for leading brands. Rose de Mai, or Centifolia rose, is one of the few roses, along with Damask rose, used in perfumery.
Thanks to its exceptional fragrance, perfumers extract the famous eau de rose de Mai from this rose.
Easy to grow, Rosa Centifolia reaches an average height of 150 cm.
This thornless shrub rose is adorned with bouquets of double, light-pink flowers, averaging 8 cm in diameter. Rose de Mai is generally harvested in May in the Alpes-Maritimes region, giving it its customary name.
The bushy habit becomes more supple under the weight of the flowers.
