For the inauguration of his new rose garden, the Mayor of Poitiers wanted a new variety to be named. The city council chose to dedicate it to Marie-Blanche Paillé, a schoolteacher and writer who lived at the crossroads of the 19th and 20th centuries, and whose pen name was Francine Poitevin.
During her retirement, she built up an important collection of rural objects, as she foresaw that many would fall into disuse, and made a significant contribution to an emerging discipline: ethnography. All these discoveries were donated to the Musée Sainte-Croix.
This variety is a champion of disease resistance, now an essential criterion, which earned it the title of "Most beautiful rose in France 2017", awarded at the international competition in Lyon.
A very remontant rose with globular buds that open into perfect cups, giving it the look of an old rose.
