It's the fragrance that will surprise you first: the warm, voluptuous scent of the purple rose, reflecting the warmth of Alsace's villages and people. The flower opens slowly in a tangle of petals, until it has completely deflowered. The rose is very vigorous and upright. In our Pithiviers garden, we've chosen to grow it as a climber. The last roses of autumn will mingle their fragrances with those of the special Gewurztraminer vintage that the Cave Coopérative de Turckheim has dedicated to it, calling it 'La Belle Alsacienne'.
