The René Descartes rose: a tribute to the philosopher

We wanted to pay tribute to the great philosopher, mathematician and physicist, René Descartes, and to the town that gave birth to him and now bears his name. Through François Vanheeghe, President of the Association des amis des roses, des jardins et des arts de la Touraine côté sud, we discovered the town of Descartes, its gardeners and the superb gardens they tend using totally organic methods. When the Mayor of Descartes asked us to name a rose after René Descartes, we immediately agreed to let the town serve as a prestigious setting for our latest creation.

René Descartes® rose bush in bloom

René Descartes is a rose with a magnificent orange and yellow semi-double rose , set off by disease-resistant foliage, and blooming non-stop until frost! The variety won a prize at the new roses competition in Hradec Kralové (Czech Republic) in the grouped-flower shrub rose category.

This variety is also available in stem form, ideal for structuring a pathway or terrace, bringing volume and abundance of flowers.
